Dhruv Jurel, born on January 21, 2001, in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, rose to prominence during the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2020 in South Africa. He was the vice-captain of the Indian side which reached the final. Jurel’s ability to play explosive yet calculated knocks at the middle of the order and his nifty glovework behind the wickets found a suitor in Rajasthan Royals during the IPL 2022 mega auction. The UP batter made his IPL debut for the Royals in 2023, coming on as an Impact Player to score an unbeaten 32 against the Punjab Kings. Though the Royals lost the match, Jurel’s knock cemented his position in the team as a trusty finisher. Dhruv Jurel’s ability to thrive under pressure and fearless approach to batting make him a match-winner and the youngster has only grown in stature during his two seasons with the Royals, which led to his retention in the team for the IPL 2025 season. His IPL performances, coupled with his impressive stats for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket, paved the way for his international debut in 2024. He made his Test debut against England in Rajkot and was the Player of the Match in his subsequent outing in Ranchi. Dhruv Jurel also made his T20I debut for India in Zimbabwe in July 2024.
