Following a two-year absence, the winners of the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Rajasthan Royals made a comeback in the 11th edition. During the auctions, the Jaipur-based team had been all over the news with the season’s most expensive buys – Ben Stokes (England) for INR 12.5 Crores and Jaydev Unadkat (India) for INR 11.5 Crores. The newly formed team along was all charged up and eager for the league to begin.

The league stage saw the Royals showcasing a series of splendid performances with a few losses on the trot, followed by a momentum building series of victories. While there was rarely a dull moment in our matches, the one thing that was consistent throughout was our brand of exciting cricket. The fans enjoyed a thrilling ride throughout the campaign with the team winning the last 4 of their 5 matches to secure fourth place in the points table and qualify for the playoffs. However, luck didn’t favour us in the eliminator as we played the Knight Riders in Kolkata and came up short in the absence of the experienced and explosive Ben Stokes & Jos Buttler. The season included some great highlights and memories like Krishnappa Gowtham’s heroic innings against Mumbai Indians, beating RCB in a must win encounter to qualify for the playoffs and the Royals’ Cancer Out Initiative and Cancer Out match against CSK, where we donned the Pink jersey for the very first time!
