The importance of having a wrist spinner in every team has resulted in the rise of a slew of high-quality tweakers across India. Murugan Ashwin is one of those queuing up for greater glory. His breakthrough performance came during the 2015-16 Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, the premier Twenty20 domestic tournament in India. Ashwin has been a regular feature over the years as a net bowler for Chennai Super Kings. He has represented as many as five IPL franchises, and the Royals became his sixth when he was signed up ahead of the 2023 season.
