Shimron Hetmyer exemplifies the classic modern-day big-hitting middle-order batter. The dynamic left-hander from Guyana has been a key figure for the West Indies cricket team for years. Known for his flair and aggressive approach with the bat, Hetmyer burst onto the international scene after captaining the West Indies to the ICC U-19 World Cup title in 2016. He made his international debut in 2017 and has represented the West Indies in all three formats. However, Shimron Hetmyer’s ability to clear boundaries effortlessly and accelerate the run rate almost at will earned him big plaudits in limited-overs cricket, particularly in T20s. A popular name in T20 leagues around the world, Hetmyer made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019 before spending two seasons with Delhi Capitals. Having joined Rajasthan Royals at the IPL 2022 mega auction, he played a crucial role in the Royals' journey to the final that season, scoring 314 runs at a strike rate of over 153. He also flew home to witness the birth of his first child and came back to finish the IPL season on a high. The Caribbean power hitter has been a mainstay in the Royals setup since and was retained for IPL 2025.
