Thanks to some standout performances from a couple of Royals, India's first Test against the West Indies in Dominica turned out to be a three-day affair, with the visitors registering a massive victory on Day 3. The innings win means that India take a 1-0 lead in the Two-match Test series, with the second Test slated to begin on July 20 in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
The Dominica Test victory comes like a breath of fresh air for India, who recently lost the World Test Championship Final against Australia at The Oval. This Test will also go down as a historic one for young Yashasvi Jaiswal and veteran Ravichandran Ashwin, as they ended up smashing some big records on their way. A look at some of them!
YBJ's dream come true
- Yashasvi Jaiswal became the 17th Indian batter to score a century on his Test debut
- With a score of 171, Yashasvi notched up the third-highest score by an Indian batter on Test debut, only six behind Rohit Sharma (177) who's second on the list that is led by Shikhar Dhawan (187)
- Jaiswal is also only the third Indian to have scored a Test hundred on debut as an opener
- The Royals player also won the Player of the Match award, becoming only the 8th Indian to have won the award on debut
Hard work pays off!

- His figures of 5/60 in the first innings helped him reach a special landmark of 700 Test wickets
- In the second innings, his 7/71 registered the best Test figures for an Indian bowler in the West Indies
- With 709 scalps to his name, Ashwin is now second on the list of most international wickets for India, surpassing Harbhajan Singh (707)
