Shimron Hetmyer was named in the West Indies T20 team that will play a five-match series against England from November 10.

Cricket West Indies, on Friday, named a 15-member squad for the first two T20s that will see Hetmyer return to the team after missing the Sri Lanka series due to personal reasons.

The first two T20s will be played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on November 10 and 11, respectively. The action shifts to the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia which will host the remaining three games from November 15 to 18.

The West Indies vs England T20 series follows the three-match ODI leg which the hosts won by a margin of 2-1 on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old Hetmyer, who was retained by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 auction, made a comeback to the West Indies cricket team’s ODI setup for the England series after playing his last ODI against the same opponent in December 2023.

The middle-order batter is an experienced campaigner in the T20 format with 58 international caps for the Windies and a tally of 933 runs at an average of 21.20 and a strike rate of 119.61.

The left-handed Hetmyer has been popular in T20 leagues across the globe amassing 4596 runs from 236 games averaging 26.87 and striking at 136.94. He has scored a hundred and 23 fifties in his T20 career.

Hetmyer finished as the top run-getter for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League 2024. He had a tally of 402 runs, including four fifties, from 13 matches at an impressive average of 40.20 and a strike rate of 185.25 that powered the Warriors to the final of CPL 2024.

Rovman Powell will continue to lead the West Indies T20I team that will also see the return of the big-hitting duo of Nicholas Pooran and Andre Russell and spinner Akeal Hosein, who missed the Sri Lanka tour along with Hetmyer.
