The first ever player to be signed by the Rajasthan Royals. The first captain and coach for the Royals. The first IPL captain to lift the trophy. Australia legend, one of the finest leg-spinners the world has watched and a forever Royals supporter – Shane Warne is back. He doesn’t really need any of the introduction above, but we can’t help mention some of his achievements over and over again. Warney is back at the Royals as a mentor while he reprises his role of brand ambassador from last year.
The last time Warne was a mentor with Rajasthan Royals was when the team made a return to the IPL in 2018. A few members of the 2018 squad are present in the 2020 one. Warne brings years of experience both as a player and as a coach in the IPL, from its initial years. He is rated as one of the top captains of the league and is widely known to possess a smart cricketing brain.
The Rajasthan Royals set-up has four leg-spinners – Gopal, Markande, Tewatia & the part-timer, Jaiswal. These players will love to have Warney by their side during training and matches. Warne has a knack of managing both young and senior players – both of which are present in abundance within the 2020 squad. He will fly in to Dubai very soon to be with the squad, who will be keen to pick on that clever cricket mind throughout the season.
