Day 4 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy turned out to be a double whammy in the Royals camp, with Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal both getting to their respective second centuries of the tournament on the same day.
Riyan’s second hundred came just days after he kicked off his campaign with a stunning 117 in Assam’s first match against Rajasthan. The 21-year-old is coming off a successful outing in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he finished as Assam’s leading run-getter.
With 291 runs in 4 games, the youngster is already placed second in the list of highest run-scorers in the competition. His blistering knocks have also helped Assam register 3 massive victories and collect 12 points on the table so far.
Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to have a phenomenal year with the bat, scoring back to back tons in the ongoing tournament. The IPL 2022 finalist was first part of the West Zone side that lifted the Duleep Trophy in his debut year. In the quarter-final, Yashasvi’s maiden first-class double hundred against North East Zone earned him the Player of the Match award. He then went on to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with Mumbai, racking up 266 runs in 10 games.
On the other hand, pacer Kuldeep Sen, who is part of India’s ODI squad for the upcoming New Zealand series, has also been among the wickets. Against Odisha, he bagged a four-wicket haul to help Madhya Pradesh seal a 6-wicket victory. In three games so far, the 26-year old has already scalped 6* wickets, keeping his India preparations on in full swing.
