Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a dream Indian Premier League debut for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur on Saturday, becoming the youngest player in IPL history, at the age of 14 years and 23 days.
The talented teenager was included in the Royals’ IPL 2025 squad as an Impact Player and opened the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal in place of Sanju Samson.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi got his IPL career off the mark in style, with a six off Shardul Thakur and went on to score a credible 34 off just 20 balls before being stumped by Rishabh Pant off an Aiden Markram delivery.

He hit three massive sixes and a couple of boundaries to enthral the home fans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
As he walked back to the pavilion after his dismissal, an emotional Vaibhav was seen wiping away tears—overwhelmed by the moment.
Samson, the Royals’ regular skipper, missed the match due to an abdominal injury he suffered while batting against Delhi Capitals in the Royals’ previous match on April 16.
Before Vaibhav, the record for the youngest player in the IPL belonged to Prayas Ray Barman.
