Rajasthan Royals will begin their quest for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 title with an away game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, March 23.
Scheduled at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the SRH vs RR match will begin at 3:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Both the Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad made the playoffs in 2024. Last year, the Royals began the season by winning four of the first five matches.
In fact, the Royals have won their opening matches in each of their last three seasons, including triumphing over SRH in Pune in 2022 and in Hyderabad in 2023. The Rajasthan Royals won their 2024 season-opener against the Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur.
Last year’s match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium against SRH saw Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag score fifties to take the Royals to a total of 200. During the course of the innings, Parag completed 1000 runs in the IPL.
The Royals also boast a strong and young batting unit for IPL 2025 with the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag and teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the squad.
Complementing the Royals' dynamic young batting lineup, overseas stalwarts like Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer and Maheesh Theekshana add firepower to the bowling attack.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, who reached the final last year, will be led by Australia’s Pat Cummins.
Following the away match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Rajasthan Royals will head to Guwahati for matches against the Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings on March 26 and 30, respectively.
