Sanju Samson will not be travelling with the Rajasthan Royals squad for their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday, as he is still recovering from the injury he suffered against Delhi Capitals last week.

Samson was also ruled out of Saturday’s game against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur after he had sustained an abdominal injury while batting against DC in the game prior to that.

He had to retire hurt in the match while batting on 31.

The Rajasthan Royals captain is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team’s home base in Jaipur with select RR medical staff. He hasn’t been included in the squad for RCB due to his ongoing rehab process.

The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action.

Vice-captain Riyan Parag led the Royals in Sanju Samson’s absence against LSG as RR faced a heartbreaking two-run defeat in the match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Despite the result though, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who stepped in for Samson to open the batting for the Royals with Yasahsvi Jaiswal gave a good account of himself with a sensational debut, which also saw him become the youngest player in IPL history.
