The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season will kickstart on Friday with the first-round matches running from October 11 to October 14 simultaneously in various parts of the country.
Select matches of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 campaign will be available to watch on live streaming and on telecast. All the cricket matches are scheduled to start at 9:30 AM IST.
The 90th edition of the Ranji Trophy, the premier domestic first-class tournament in India, will see a total of 38 teams split into two divisions. The Elite Division will have 32 teams split into four groups of eight teams while the Plate League will have six teams.
The top two teams from each group advance to the quarter-finals with the winning teams advancing further. The top two sides in the Plate League qualify for the Plate final and also get promoted to the Elite Division in the next year.
Two teams with the least points among bottom-placed teams in the Elite Division get relegated to the Plate League.
All group stage matches will be played over four days and knockout matches, only for Elite League, will extend to five days.
Tanush Kotian had an excellent start to the domestic season this year picking up 10 wickets and scoring 121 runs from three matches in India A’s victorious campaign in Duleep Trophy 2024.
Tanush, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, continued his fine run in the Irani Cup with a half-century and a century in the first and second innings and also scalped three wickets. His all-round display helped Mumbai win the Irani Cup after a gap of 27 years.
Mumbai are in Elite Group A of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 and start their campaign away at Baroda on Friday.
Prasidh Krishna will spearhead the Karnataka pace attack as the former champions begin the new season in Elite Group C against Madhya Pradesh, which will have Avesh Khan in its ranks.
Navdeep Saini was included in the Delhi squad after registering impressive performances with India B in the Duleep Trophy. The pacer had a tally of 14 wickets from three matches which was the third-best in the tournament. Delhi are in Elite Group D and will face Chhattisgarh in their opening match.
