Yuzvendra Chahal picked up his second five-wicket haul in the county cricket to lead his team to victory in Northampton on Thursday.
Chahal recorded figures of 5/134 in 43 overs in the second innings to go with 4/82 in 23 overs in the first. His match haul was 9/216 in 66 overs.
With the match, Yuzvendra Chahal concluded his county stint. The Indian leg spinner played four matches and picked up 19 wickets at an average of 21.10. He was instrumental in both of the team’s wins this season.
Besides the four county matches, Chahal also played in a 50-over match, where he picked up 5/14 in 10 overs.
“Got a good experience here, bowling on different types of wickets and getting a different environment, it gives you confidence when you go back to first-class cricket (back home),” Chahal said.
Electing to bat first, the opposition scored 203 in the first innings while Chahal's side responded with 383. In the second innings, the opposition were all out for 316.
The 34-year-old Chahal, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, dismissed five of the top eight batters, including centurion Scott Currie. Four of the five wickets were stumpings.
At one stage, the opposition were 92/7 with Chahal responsible for four of those wickets.
Set a target of 137 for the win, Chahal's side chased it down with nine wickets to spare.
