Jos Buttler, England’s white-ball captain, is all set to return to action after a lengthy hiatus caused by a right calf injury in the upcoming ODI and T20I series against the West Indies, which starts on October 31.
Earlier in September, he missed both the ODI and T20I series against Australia after suffering a setback in his recovery from the injury. He sustained a calf injury while preparing for the Men's Hundred. He was expected to return during the T20 Blast but could not recover on time.
The 34-year-old, a key player for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, last represented the England cricket team at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he finished as the country’s top scorer. He scored 214 runs from seven innings at an average of 42.80 and a strike rate of 158.51.
England’s selectors have named a 14-player squad for the T20 and ODI series, with two more players to be selected later. Jafer Chohan, John Turner and Dan Mousley are the new faces in the squad.
The three-match ODI series will begin on October 31 and end on November 6. Antigua and Barbados will host the matches. The five-match T20I series will commence on November 9 and finish on November 17. The venues are Barbados and St Lucia.
