Jofra Archer etched his name into Rajasthan Royals’ record books on Saturday by becoming just the fifth bowler to claim 50 wickets for the team.
The milestone came during the Royals’ IPL 2025 match against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.

Bowling the first over while defending 205 in the match, Archer sent debutant Priyansh Arya’s stumps flying with the very first ball of the first over to get the Royals up and running. He then doubled up in the same over by knocking over opposition captain Shreyas Iyer with the final delivery.

Archer plucked his 50th victim in Rajasthan Royals’ colours in the final over of the match by dismissing Arshdeep Singh to help his team to a 50-run victory. He finished the match, his 39th IPL cap for the Royals, with figures of 3/25 in his four overs and the Player of the Match award.
With this achievement, Archer joins an elite group of Royals bowlers, following in the footsteps of Yuzvendra Chahal (66), Siddarth Trivedi (65), Shane Watson (61) and the legendary Shane Warne (57) - all Royals legends in their own right.
The English pacer now has 52 wickets in 44 matches overall in the Indian Premier League but two of his scalps came in the 2023 season while playing for Mumbai Indians, for whom he turned up five times.
Archer made his IPL debut for Royals in 2018 and spent three years with the team, picking up 46 wickets for them in 35 matches. He was also adjudged the IPL Most Valuable Player for the 2020 season.
After a bout with injuries, Archer returned to the IPL in the 2023 season in MI colours and picked up two scalps in five matches for them.
The English speedster returned home to Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2025 and despite tough outings against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, has bounced back in style in the last two outings.
"Happy to contribute to the team (now)," Archer said after the game on Saturday. "When there are days like this, you got to make sure you cash in."
