The Mumbai cricket team and Rest of India (RoI) will lock horns in the Irani Cup 2024 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow from October 1.
The Irani Cup 2024 will be available to watch on live streaming and on TV. The Mumbai vs Rest of India match is scheduled to start at 9:30 AM IST.
The Irani Cup 2024 is a five-day red-ball match played between the domestic champions of the previous season and the Rest of India team. Mumbai made the grade for the tournament after winning their 42nd Ranji Trophy title last season.
The side that wins or takes the first innings lead, in case of a draw, will lay their hands on the trophy.
Dhruv Jurel and Prasidh Krishna are part of the 15-member RoI side that will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, while Tanush Kotian will feature for the Mumbai cricket team again after playing a splendid role in their title triumph last season.
Dhruv Jurel, who is currently part of the Indian Test team, will join the RoI squad ahead of the Irani Cup 2024. Apart from Jurel, Yash Dayal and Sarfaraz Khan will also join RoI and Mumbai, respectively for the contest.
Meanwhile, Prasidh, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, had a memorable return to first-class cricket after a lengthy layoff due to injury. His eventful spell of 3/50 helped India A win the Duleep Trophy earlier this month beating India C on the final day of their last-round match.
Tanush, also part of the India A side in the Duleep Trophy, showcased his all-round abilities picking up 10 wickets and scoring 121 runs from three matches. The off-spinner was the Player of the Series in the Ranji Trophy last year with a haul of 29 wickets and 502 runs in 10 matches for Mumbai.
RoI won the Irani Cup last year by beating the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy champions Saurashtra by a mammoth 175 runs in Rajkot in October.
