Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, fresh off his heroics for India at the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024, was also present at HPC Nagpur. Nitish Rana and Kumar Kartikeya were also there for the IPL training camp.
The practice sessions and drills at the Nagpur camp were overseen by Royals head coach Rahul Dravid, High-Performance Director Zubin Bharucha and batting coach Vikram Rathour.
Rajasthan Royals will head into IPL 2025 looking to add to their triumph in the inaugural season back in 2008.
Since then, the Royals made the final in 2022 and the playoffs on four other occasions, including in IPL 2024. However, the trophy has eluded the Jaipur team.
Ahead of the new season, the Royals have held on to the core of their squad by retaining the likes of Samson, Sandeep, Dhruv, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, all-rounder Riyan Parag and ace finisher Shimron Hetmyer.
The inaugural champions also made significant moves in the IPL 2025 mega auction, securing England pacer Jofra Archer, Sri Lankan duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana, Indian batter Nitish Rana, among others, to strengthen the squad.
The Royals also secured the services of 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the auction in Jeddah, making the Bihar teenager the youngest player to ever sign an IPL contract. The move also aligns well with the team’s philosophy to invest in the future.
Indian cricket icon Rahul Dravid was also roped in as the team’s new head coach for IPL 2025 and beyond.
The former Royals player and captain takes up his new role on the back of a highly successful stint as coach of the Indian men’s national cricket team, during which he led the Men in Blue to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 crown.
