The IPL 2025 auction is scheduled to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25, the Indian Premier League organisers announced on Tuesday.

This will mark the second straight year that the IPL Player auction is being conducted outside India, with Dubai playing host in 2024.

However, unlike last year, the upcoming one will be a mega auction which is held once every three years, giving IPL teams the opportunity to revamp their respective squads.

Prior to the auction, the teams were given the opportunity to retain six players, including a maximum of five capped internationals.

Rajasthan Royals opted to exercise the full quota, retaining captain Sanju Samson, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, all-rounder Riyan Parag, wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, finisher Shimron Hetmyer and medium pacer Sandeep Sharma before the retention window slammed shut on October 31.

"For us, retaining this group isn’t just about their skills—it’s about extending the trust, giving ourselves a sense of stability, and putting ourselves in the best position going into the all-important IPL 2025 auction,” Royals coach Rahul Dravid said after the retentions were announced last week. “It's certainly an exciting time for the franchise and for these players."

The Royals can still add 19 more players to build a full-strength squad of 25. Having spent INR 79 crores off the total salary cap of 120 crores on retentions, Rajasthan Royals will have a purse of INR 41 crore for the auction.

The Royals will have a total pool of 1,574 players to choose from at the IPL 2025 auction. The list includes 1,165 Indians and 409 overseas players.

There are a total of 320 capped players - 48 Indians and 272 internationals - on the list. The list also includes 1,224 uncapped players and 30 players from Associate Nations.

The player registrations for the mega IPL 2025 auction ended on Monday.

Since the Royals have retained a full quota of six, the inaugural IPL champions will not have any RTM (Right to Match) option during the IPL 2025 auction.
