The two-day Indian Premier League 2025 mega-auction is all set to get underway at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Live streaming and telecast of the IPL 2025 auction, which will start at 3:30 PM IST, will be available in India.

With the first mega auctions since IPL 2022, teams will be involved in frenzied bidding to fill the remaining 204 slots, including 70 overseas players, out of a total list of 574 cricketers.

The IPL auction will kick off with the bidding of 12 marquee players, who have been split into two groups of six.

Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant headline the marquee player list with ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, KL Rahul and the pace trio of Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh rounding off the Indian players in the list.

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc and Liam Livingstone are the overseas stars who will be part of the 12-player list.

The marquee players will be followed by the capped and uncapped players who will go up based on their specialisation. After player number 116 (subject to timings), the auction will enter its accelerated phase, covering all players from 117 to 574.

After this, franchises will be asked to submit names of unsold players from the full list who will go up once more for bidding in another accelerated phase.

All franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of six players from their last year’s squad, either by outright retention before the deadline, which fell on October 31, or by using right-to-match (RTM) cards in the auction. Out of the six players, the teams can retain a maximum of five capped players and two uncapped players.

Rajasthan Royals retained captain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer in the capped player category while Sandeep Sharma was the lone uncapped player in the six-player list.

Having made all their six retentions at a cumulative sum of INR 79 crores, the Royals will enter the auction with a remaining purse of 41 crores. They will not have any RTM cards to be used during the auction as well.
