Rajasthan Royals will enter the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25, with a remaining purse of INR 41 crore at their disposal.
The Royals had retained the maximum allotted six players, five capped and one uncapped, from last year’s squad ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
Captain Sanju Samson and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal were retained for INR 18 crore each while Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel, both of whom made their international debuts in 2024, were retained for INR 14 crore each.
Shimron Hetmyer was the only overseas player retained by the Royals for INR 11 crore with Sandeep Sharma was the lone uncapped player retained for INR 4 crore.
As per rules, each team is allotted a total purse of INR 120 crore - 20 percent more than last year - to build a squad of a maximum of 25 players, including eight overseas cricketers, for IPL 2025.
With their pre-auction retentions costing a cumulative sum of INR 79 crore, the Royals are left with a war chest of INR 41 crore - the lowest among all the teams - to build the rest of the squad at the IPL 2025 auction.
Rajasthan Royals and the Kolkata Knight Riders, having retained six players before the IPL 2025 auction, will also not be able to use Right-to-Match (RTM) cards during the auction.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings have the highest remaining purse for IPL 2025 with INR 110.5 crore as they retained only two uncapped players from their previous squad. They also have four RTM cards at their disposal, the most among teams, during the IPL 2025 auction.
A total of 574 - 366 Indians and 208 overseas - players are set to go under the hammer during the two-day IPL 2025 with teams looking to fill 204 slots, including 70 for overseas players.
The highest base price for a player at the IPL 2025 auction is INR 2 crore while the lowest is INR 30 lakh.
