Rajasthan Royals players Fazalhaq Farooqi and Jofra Archer will spearhead Afghanistan’s and England's pace attacks, respectively, at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

Both Afghanistan and England are a part of Group B in the Champions Trophy 2025 alongside Australia and South Africa. Matches will be live streamed and telecast in India.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand have been clubbed in Group A.

The Indian cricket team will start its campaign on Thursday. India will play their tournament-opener against Bangladesh and then face defending champions Pakistan on Sunday.

Australia and India are the two most successful teams at the ICC Champions Trophy, winning the tournament twice. India last won the trophy in 2013.

A total of 15 matches will be played in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, including both group and knockout fixtures.

Fazalhaq Farooqi’s Afghanistan and Jofra Archer’s England will play three matches in the group stage and the top two teams after all the games in Group B will advance to the semi-finals.

Afghanistan will face England on Wednesday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

England will head into the Champions Trophy on the back of a 3-0 loss in an ODI series against India.

On the other hand, the Champions Trophy will be the Afghanistan cricket team’s first limited-overs engagement of the year.

Neither England nor Afghanistan have ever won the Champions Trophy. This will be Afghanistan’s maiden appearance in the ICC tournament.

Meanwhile, Kwena Maphaka is also travelling with South Africa’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad as a reserve.
