Rajasthan Royals cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Avesh Khan, Tanush Kotian and Prasidh Krishna found a place in the squads announced for the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 season.

The Indian domestic season-opening first-class tournament is scheduled to start on September 5 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh and the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru and will run till September 22.

The Duleep Trophy competition, which used to run as an inter-zone competition, has changed this year. There will be four teams, selected by the BCCI, that will face off against each other in a round-robin format.

There will be a total of six matches in the competition with each team playing the other three sides once. The team which finishes with the maximum points will be crowned Duleep Trophy champions. There will be no knockout matches.

Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Avesh Khan, Tanush Kotian and Prasidh Krishna are part of Team A while Yashasvi Jaiswal finds a place in Team B. Parag comes into the Duleep Trophy on the back of an eventful tour of Sri Lanka with the Indian team.

Parag, who made his Team India debut in both the T20 and ODI formats over the last two months, has been a revelation with the ball. He took a three-fer from in a T20 match against Sri Lanka before following it up with another three-fer on his debut in the third ODI.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal will transition to the red-ball game after impactful stints with the Indian cricket team in Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in the T20Is. The southpaw was the second-highest run-getter in the Zimbabwe series with 141 runs at an average of 70.50 and a strike rate of 165.88. He also scored 80 runs from matches at a strike rate of 177.77.

Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna makes his return to the domestic circuit after missing out on the Indian Premier League 2024 due to injury.

Players who will be selected to represent India for the home Test series against Bangladesh, which starts on September 19, will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy.
