Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel will be flown to Australia for the second unofficial India A vs Australia A Test match, which starts at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 7.
Dhruv Jurel, who was one of the six players retained by the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025 season, is also in the Indian squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, which starts on November 22.
However, the 23-year-old Jurel, along with senior compatriot KL Rahul, will be flying off to Australia ahead of the rest of the squad so that the two can get more game time under their belt before the main series starts.
Both Jurel and Rahul were part of the Indian cricket team for the series against New Zealand, which India lost 3-0. While Rahul played the first Test, Jurel didn’t make the final XI in any of the three matches.
Earlier this year, Jurel made his Test debut for India against England and played in three matches in the series. However, he has not made a Test XI since.
An India A squad, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, is currently in Australia to play two four-day first-class matches against Australia A.
The first unofficial Test between India A and Australia A was played at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay from October 31 to November 3. Despite a Sai Sudharsan century in the second innings, India A lost the match by seven wickets.
Jurel has been a mainstay for the Rajasthan Royals since joining the team in 2023 and has scored 347 runs in 28 matches over the past two seasons. The tally also includes two half centuries.
