Chasing 189, Rajasthan came out all guns blazing as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson put the DC bowlers under immediate pressure. They powered the Royals to 63/1 before Samson had to retire hurt midway through the sixth over.
Riyan Parag was the new man in but couldn’t make an impact as Axar Patel breached his defence to send him back early.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, however, was in sublime touch, bringing up his half-century in the 12th over with a flurry of boundaries. Nitish Rana joined the opener and kept the momentum going, adding a steady 36-run partnership before Jaiswal fell for 51.

With Jaiswal back in the dugout, Dhruv Jurel joined Nitish Rana, who shifted gears and took the attack to the Delhi bowlers.
The left-hander found the boundary regularly to keep Rajasthan in the hunt. He brought up his fifty before perishing in the 18th over.
Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer continued the momentum with timely boundaries and going into the final over, the Royals looked on top with just nine to get and seven wickets in hand.
However, RR could only manage eight as the match headed into a Super Over.
Mitchell Starc, who bowled the last over of the RR innings, was entrusted to bowl the Super Over for DC while Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag were the Royals’ batters of choice.
Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag both struck a four each before the latter was run out off the fourth ball. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the next man in but he was run out off the very next ball as RR ended with 11/2.
With 12 needed off six balls, DC sent KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs out to the middle. Rahul took a couple off the first ball, hit a four off the second and then took a single as DC needed five off three.
Tristan Stubbs then struck a huge six to help DC win the Super Over.
Earlier in the evening, Rajasthan Royals made early inroads after electing to field first with Jofra Archer removing Jake Fraser-McGurk and a sharp run out accounting for Karun Nair inside the powerplay.
Abishek Porel and KL Rahul then steadied the Delhi Capitals innings, stitching together a 63-run partnership for the third wicket. Archer returned to break the stand by dismissing Rahul before Wanindu Hasaranga struck to send Porel back to the dugout.
Delhi’s skipper Axar Patel hit a quickfire 34 off 14 balls, but was undone by Maheesh Theekshana. The final three overs of the innings witnessed Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma hit a few boundaries as DC went on to post 188/5.
Rajasthan Royals will play the Lucknow Super Giants next at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
