Keshav Maharaj and Nandre Burger were named in the 15-member South Africa cricket team that will visit Bangladesh for a two-Test series starting October 21, 2024.

The first Test match is scheduled to be played from October 21 to October 26 in Dhaka whereas the second game is slated from October 29 to November 2 in Chattogram.

The Rajasthan Royals duo of Maharaj and Burger was also part of the Proteas side that registered a 1-0 win in the two-Test series against the West Indies in the Caribbean last month.

Maharaj finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series with a haul of 13 wickets from two matches at an impressive average of 16.07 and a strike rate of 38.46. The left-arm spinner’s exploits with the ball, which included an eight-wicket match haul in the first game, also won him the Player of the Series award.

Meanwhile, Burger also played a pivotal role in the second match, with both bat and ball, to turn the contest South Africa’s way. He made a crucial 23 in South Africa's first innings while adding 63 runs for the last wicket to help South Africa to a respectable total.

The left-arm pacer, then picked up three wickets to cap off an all-round performance for the Proteas. Burger is currently part of the South Africa white-ball team that is currently playing against Ireland in the United Arab Emirates.

South Africa are currently placed sixth in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle with two wins, three losses and a draw. The Proteas have six more matches left to be played in this WTC cycle with two-Test series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan at home to follow later this year.
