5th February 2010 - abc.net.au: The Victorian Government is finalising plans for a new charm offensive in India, featuring former Australian cricketer Shane Warne.
The Victorian Government is embroiled in a slanging-match with sections of the Indian media, over their coverage of attacks on Indian students in Melbourne.
The Premier, John Brumby believes very few of the attacks are racially motivated, and has demanded more "balance".
Mr Brumby is hoping to enlist Warne to help soothe anger on the sub-continent by doing some promotional work.
"We may well look at something like a friendship cricket game, we'll be focused on selling the positives about our state," he said.
"Shane wants to help Victoria and put back into the community."
"While we would both condemn in the strongest possible terms, any act of violence or any act of racially-motivated violence, we're also keen to keep this in a context."
